Cors Caron: A nature reserve comprising a large raised bog near Tregaron. Spectacular setting, and I had it all to myself on the spring equinox this year. I left home at 3:30am and got there by 5:15 or so; then walked into the reserve to make this recording. I started recording at about 5:45 (sunrise was at 6:15 or so).
The recording here is about 13 minutes sampled over an hour from 5:45 – 6:45am.
It was wonderful; relatively quiet (some planes, though diminished perhaps a little by the coronavirus efforts); some traffic down to Tregaron. The variety of birds was fantastic; I don’t recognise them all, but here are a few that are on the recording:
- Barn Owl
- Canada Goose
- Greylag Goose
- Curlew
- Buzzard
- Tawny Owl
- Wren
- Whimbrel
- Pheasant
Just sitting there and listening was wonderful. Barn owls screeching; Canada geese restlessly preparing to take off; flights overhead by Canada Geese and Greylag Geese; Curlew and Whimbrel and Buzzard in a nearby field. Magical morning in a magical place.
