03/03/18. Beneath the Carpinus in snowy Stapleton Wood.

It was our big snowy weekend and I set off into Stapleton wood to listen to the birds in the early morning.  But the wind was quite high, and perhaps because of the snow cover and cold the birds were not so evident.

Instead I was treated to the sound of the twigs and branches of the carpinus trees bashing into each other.

Throughout can be heard cockerels from the nearby chicken farm, pheasants, crows, the occasional owl, and a very insistent great tit near the end of the recording.  At least I think it’s a great tit.
