Burfa Bog is a nature reserve in Wales, about 10 minutes from Presteigne. It sits in the grounds of an old mott and bailey castle , and adjacent to Offa’s Dyke. As the name suggests, it is indeed boggy and wet. It is absolutely full of birdlife. I sat on a small bridge, and so the recording also picks up the small stream below. The site is surrounded by farmland, and the sound of sheep and cows is ever present.
There are lots of pheasants, crows, song thrush, wood pigeon, stock dove, warblers, many many more that I can’t identify. Some quite surprising.
A few birds fly quite close by; you can hear their wings beating the air.
